‘The Shelter’ was primarily written for a WAM (Western Australian Music) competition back in 1994... the subject matter of the competition was ‘Mother Earth or something to that nature’. It never won an award or gained any noticeable recognition from memory and I’m not sure I even performed the song in public. Song contests are always a little dubious in my opinion, but a great way for new songwriters to funnel their dreams and cash into organisations!
